When an author starts a series, there is some trepidation about how it will be received.  Will the plot lines be acceptable, even understandable, to readers?  Will the characters be authentic enough?  What about the location and pace?  Will the whole thing hang together?  So many questions and so few people to help.

The Goat Woman of Largo Bay, the first in the Shad Series, appeared last month and the reviews are coming in.  Thank goodness, most of them are very positive.  Some reviewers ask about genre:  is this a real mystery or not?  None question the characters and location.  A few give me some constructive criticism that I am taking to heart.  As far as genre is concerned, the book is a story.  It's the story of broken people healing and people helping or hindering, as people do.  Genre becomes secondary to the story.  Nonetheless, thank you, reviewers, for even picking up the book.  And thank you, readers, for whom it's really written, for buying the book and reading it.
