On Books and Writing
Q. How did you come to write Take Me There?
A. I'm very lucky because I get to spend every day in a place where dramas unfold before my very eyes...

High school.

I work with a lot of teenagers who come from difficult living situations. They dream of a better life, yet often find themselves drawn into destructive cycles. Watching them and remembering my own adolescent experiences with friends I loved and friends I lost, inspired me to write TAKE ME THERE.

My high school years were pretty dismal but now I get a chance to walk through them again, and hopefully make a difference. Sometimes I do that as an educator and sometimes I do that as a writer.
